Certification

Obtaining a CSTD designation demonstrates you have a thorough understanding of the common body of knowledge of our profession.  Both the Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) and the Certified Training Practitioner (CTP) designations are based on the competency categories outlined in the Training Competency Architecture, commonly called the 'TCA", a common body of knowledge for the training and development profession.

For information about CSTD recognized programs and courses 

 

CSTD has two professional designations available to qualified individuals:

 

 CTP   CTDP 
  Aimed at the instructor or facilitator who has two or more years of part-time experience in instruction and facilitation.

 

Aimed at those who have been working in the field for four or more years in one or more of the five competency categories.
 CTP candidates must complete three steps:

  1. Become a member of CSTD
  2. Pass a CTP Knowledge Exam
  3. Pass a CTP Skill Demonstration Assessment

  1. Become a member of CSTD
  2. Pass a CTDP Knowledge Exam
  3. Pass a CTDP Skill Demonstration Assessment
